Please thorough review the below email and information from Brother Jerry Sturdivant, SMA 2010 Arrangement Chairman,  BLET Division 110 pertaining to the Southeastern Association Meeting which will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio  from June 14, 2010 at 9:00 AM (check in date and registration date on  Sunday, June 13, 2010) through June 17, 2010 (banquet on Thursday night) normal check out is  on Friday morning, June 18, 2010.  The SMA is a very worthwhile meeting to attend that all BLET Division officers and members are invited to register and attend the various functions and meetings during the week held.  Workshops are generally held for various BLET Division officers and informational meetings are attended by our National BLET Officers to update everyone attending on the latest issues and matters being handled by our National BLET Officers. At this meeting you should be able to meet your National BLET Officers and learn their position and views on different issues or subject matters of mutual interest.  Generally Questions and Answer sessions/meetings are held for informational purposes and members in good standing can attend and ask questions at these closed meetings. I encourage you to consider attending this meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio and meet your National BLET Officers. As you know our BLET National Convention will be held in Cleveland, Ohio this year and this will be a great opportunity for you and our members to meet our National Officers and other BLET officers and members. I am certain this meeting will be informational  and education for all who attend. I look forward to seeing you there.

Currently we are working on the 2010 SMA Convention as you all well know.  I am compiling US Postal Mailing lists as well as Email Mailing lists, trying to get as much information to everyone as soon as possible.  If you Gentlemen would assist us in getting the SMA information out to all you LC, ST, & LR we would greatly appreciate it!  Or if you prefer, you can send me your email lists and I will do it for you!

Following is a link from the Hilton Hotel in Cincinnati to make online reservations to receive the BLET discount.  When making reservations by phone, you must mention the BLET to receive the discounted rate, but if you make them online the rate is given automatically.

If your Local Chairman, Secretary of Treasury, or Legislative Representive needs or wants to be added to either the SMA Email list or the US Postal Mail list for SMA information, please email their name & address, or email address to us and we will add them immediately!

Please find attached above Letter dated January 30, 2010 from Brother Chuck Warder, Secretary-Treasurer BLETT Southeastern Meeting Association regarding the SMA Beiger-Brendle Scholarship Fund and a Scholarship Application. The Geiger-Brendle Scholarship program as stated by Brother Warder is a very important function for our membership and has assisted numerous deserving sons and daughters of our members to attend college over the years. I strongly encourage each BLET Division to participate in funding this program, to educate their members of its existence and distribute applications to our members for their son or daughter to apply for a scholarship award. Gentlemen,

 

In the event you receive calls from your membership about receipt of the attached a letter which will soon be sent to all employees regarding collection of the I-9 and corresponding documents. We have been advised that many employees are exempt from this requirement, specifically, those employees hired before November 6, 1986.  For the rest of the employees, this is an updated version of the document they have already presented at the time of hire, so very little has changed.
